TEF Canada Speaking
TEF Canada Speaking: Complete Guide
Understand the current TEF Canada oral expression format and build practical speaking skills for both sections.
The TEF Canada oral expression test is face-to-face with an examiner and currently has two sections: Section A, obtaining information, and Section B, expressing an argument to convince. The official duration is 15 minutes in total.
Section A: obtain information
You need to ask questions that help you gather the information you actually need. Practise question forms for price, availability, conditions, location, duration, procedure, restrictions and alternatives.
Section B: convince
This is an interaction. You need to understand the situation, present reasons and respond to the other person's position. A useful preparation model is position → reason → example → response → next reason.
What to practise
- Question formation without long pauses.
- Natural transitions between ideas.
- Examples that support a point.
- Polite disagreement and responses.
- Recovering when you forget a word.
The goal is not to memorise one perfect speech. Build several language moves that can be recombined under pressure.
