TEF Canada Scores and NCLC: How the Results Work

TEF Canada certificates report a score for each test and also indicate a language level. The official TEF results page states that scores are reported on a 0–699 scale and that certificates also show CEFR and Canadian Language Benchmarks (NCLC) levels.

Why the exact table matters

For immigration applications, do not convert scores using a random online chart. IRCC publishes the equivalency tables it uses for Express Entry and other programs, and the TEF provider publishes its own current information.

Express Entry example

IRCC currently lists TEF Canada and TCF Canada among the approved French tests for Express Entry. Its current tables show the NCLC mapping by ability. Always use the current IRCC page when entering results into an immigration profile.
